A Review of Rubber Biocomposites Reinforced with Lignocellulosic Fillers

Lignocellulosic fillers have attracted considerable attention over the years as a promising alternative to conventional petroleum-based (carbon black) in rubber composites due their renewability, biodegradability, availability, high mechanical properties, low density and cost. Based on literature available, comprehensive review is presented here of biocomposites reinforced with plant-based fillers. The study divided into different sections depending matrix (natural or synthetic rubber) type lignocellulosic fiber, microcrystalline cellulose, lignin nanocellulose). This focuses curing characteristics, properties dynamic resulting biocomposites. In addition, effect hybrid filler systems, surface modification these are compared. A conclusion finally some openings for future works.
